Areas of Practice

Behavioral health

Staff provides treatment, training and support services to persons experiencing problems related to emotional and mental illness, or drug and alcohol addiction. Our many services listed below use various forms of evidence-based treatment in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Individual and group therapy, case management, housing counseling, psychiatric medication, and emotional/cognitive skill building methods of treatment are used.

LGBTQ

Our psychotherapists have been specifically trained to work with the LGBTQIA+ community, which offers our patients knowledgeable, affirming and safe treatment. Coping with discrimination and oppression, coming out to one’s family, and sorting out an “authentic” sense of self in the face of social expectations and pressures can lead to higher levels of depression, anxiety, substance use, and other mental health concerns for the LGBTQIA+ community. This is why we believe it's important to have specialized training that can speak to these unique challenges.

Individuals

We work with all patients from any age, race, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity from their starting point. Life can challenge us in many ways and therefore therapy will be tailored to each patient's treatment needs. One of the the most important parts of therapy is the therapeutic relationship; as we find it is often a powerful vehicle for change. Expect that your therapist will help you to develop insight and awareness into what causes your distress.

emotional focused treatment (EFT)

I have been trained and practice from an Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) model in my work with couples. Often, we react in relationships without identifying our primary emotions and attachment needs.  This can cause great distress and turmoil in relationships as it leaves both individuals feeling misunderstood and frustrated.  The EFT model helps couples track unhealthy relationship cycles in hopes that it will create insight and awareness so that couple can connect on a deeper emotional level.

RELATIONSHIPS

When all individuals in a relationship decide to enter into treatment it can be for a variety of reasons, such as pre-marital/co-habitation counseling, distress within the relationship, communication issues, sexual issues, changes in relationship structure, and rupture and repair work. Whatever the issues may be, our team’s approach is to be an unbiased external resource for the unit to feel heard and understood in a safe and secure environment.

trauma and recovery

Therapy often helps people make sense of their experiences. Therapy will not erase the trauma, but it can decrease painful feelings from that trauma. A therapist can teach healthy coping skills to reduce the severity and frequency of symptoms. Therapy can guide a person to recovery, reaffirming their inner strength. The therapeutic staff has specific training in narrative trauma therapy, EMDR, EFT/attachment therapy, and CBT therapies.

SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS

CCG offers individual therapeutic services to address substance abuse, dependency and recovery with one of our licensed psychotherapists. Our substance abuse therapists are also Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors.

EMDR Treatment

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.  EMDR therapy shows that the mind can in fact heal from psychological trauma as much as the body recovers from physical trauma.

case management

A Case Manager is responsible for helping those with chronic illness, mental health issues or life-altering conditions to gain access to rehabilitation programs and other community services. Their duties include meeting with clients and their families, connecting clients with professional services and maintaining consistent communication with clients to assess their wellbeing and make changes to their treatment plan as needed.

Anything that’s human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. The people we trust with that important talk can help us know that we are not alone.
